Kovr is built by a small, independent team in Australia. We take your privacy seriously — not because a lawyer told us to, but because we use Kovr ourselves and we’d want the same protections.
This policy explains what data Kovr collects, how it’s used, and what your rights are. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to make the app work, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t show you ads.
Profile information. When you set up Kovr, you provide details such as your name, sex, body weight, height, and training preferences. These are used to calculate your targets and personalise your coaching. This data is stored locally on your device.
Health and fitness data from Apple Health. With your explicit permission, Kovr reads workouts, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, and active energy from Apple HealthKit. This data powers your readiness reads, session verdicts, and coaching, and is stored locally on your device. We never sell it, use it for advertising or marketing, or share it with data brokers — a firm commitment, not a policy subject to change. The only third party that ever processes any of it is our AI provider, Anthropic, and only as our service provider to generate coaching for you: when a coaching feature needs context, a summary derived from this data (for example, your recent training load or sleep trend) is sent to Anthropic’s API to produce a response. See AI processing below for exactly what is sent and how it is handled.
HRV you log manually. Some devices (Garmin, WHOOP, Coros) keep HRV internal and don’t write it to Apple Health, so you log the morning number yourself. It is stored locally and used the same way as the rest of your health data.
Nutrition logs. When you log a meal — by voice or text — the description is sent to our AI service for analysis. We do not store meal descriptions on our servers. They are processed in real time and the results are stored locally on your device.
Coaching conversations. When you use the Ask feature, your question and relevant context (your recent training, fuelling, and physiology) are sent to our AI service to generate a personalised response. These conversations are stored locally on your device.
Subscription status. If you subscribe to Kovr, Apple handles all payment processing. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple but never see your payment details, credit card number, or billing address.
Kovr uses Anthropic’s Claude AI to interpret your training and nutrition and provide coaching. When you log a meal, ask a question, or receive your weekly letter, the relevant data is sent to Anthropic’s API via our secure proxy server (hosted on Cloudflare). This means:
What is sent. The text you submit for a feature (your meal description or your question to the coach) and the training and physiology context needed to answer it — for example, your recent training load, sleep and HRV trends, and fuelling summaries. This context is derived from your Apple Health and profile data on your device and sent as a summary for that request.
What is not sent. We do not send your name, email, contact details, precise location, device identifiers, or any payment information — Kovr has no user accounts, so there is no identity attached to a request. Anthropic receives the content of the request, not who you are.
How it is handled. We do not use your data to train AI models, and Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. Your data is processed, a response is generated, and the input is not retained for training. Anthropic acts only as our service provider for this processing; Anthropic’s data handling terms apply, and you can review Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Kovr does not collect your location, photos, contacts, browsing history, search history, or financial information. We do not require you to create an account, and the app does not ask for or require an email address to use it. (If you join our launch waitlist on this website, you provide an email voluntarily for that purpose only; it is not linked to your in-app data and you can ask us to remove it at any time.) We do not track you across other apps or websites. Weather conditions are read from your workout’s existing location on-device through Apple WeatherKit — we never request, transmit, or store your location.
Your profile, training data, nutrition logs, coaching conversations, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage mechanisms. If you delete the app, your local data is deleted. We do not maintain a server-side copy of your personal data.
Your trial status is stored securely in your device’s Keychain to prevent trial abuse. This persists across app reinstalls but is tied to your device, not to any account or identifier we control.
Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes meal descriptions, coaching questions, and weekly reports. Privacy policy.
Apple (HealthKit & StoreKit) — supplies your health and fitness data with your permission, and handles subscription payments. Privacy policy.
Cloudflare — hosts our API proxy server. Privacy policy.
Kovr provides training and nutrition guidance designed for adults. Users under 18 should use the app with parental or guardian supervision. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Because your data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control of it at all times. You can delete all your data by deleting the app. If you have questions about your data or want to request deletion of any server-side processing logs, please contact us.
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since Kovr stores data locally and does not maintain user accounts, most of these rights are automatically satisfied — your data is already in your hands.
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update this page and note the date at the top. For significant changes, we may also notify you within the app.
